Class case study


 Conventions of a music video...

 -Duration of 3-4 minutes
-Studio
-The visual effects within the video usually reflect the lyrics however this isn't always the case
-Some videos are abstract/conceptional and focus on art
-Theme of costumes reflect the music genre (e.g. pop- up beat, bright colours)
-The 'star' is the main focus (e.g. low angles make them seem superior, close ups connote their innocence and importance)
-Many shot types are captured in a fast cutting rate
-costume - might be inspirational/themed so designer/varies by genre
-The artists distinctive usual sense of style or trend is repeated in their music videos - 'authorage'
-Being in sync with the beat/lyrics is a 'cutting rhythm'
-They usually dance/play instruments for a good performance -lip sync

In the Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea's Problem music video...

 -There are a variety of camera shots (a lot of close ups, long shots and bird-eye view)
-Fast cutting rate
-Filmed in different locations
-Change of mise-en-scene (different costumes)
-Male gaze
- Both female artists are sexualised
-The target audience seem to be young females
